Belmont House celebrate Sharon’s 25-year anniversary

Belmont House - long service award - sharon

The team at Belmont House Care Home in Sutton are celebrating a huge milestone for their head housekeeper, Sharon – her 25-year anniversary with the company.

Sharon started work as a domestic assistant in 1999 at Coppice Lea Care Home in Merstham and, after only a week of joining, she was asked if she would consider becoming a carer. She took on the role, dedicating herself to the care and support of residents and working hard to gain her NVQ level 2.

After 19 years of service to Coppice Lea, in which time she eventually joined the housekeeping team, she made the decision to move to Belmont House, initially working between both homes to provide the support needed and taking on her current position as Head Housekeeper.

Sharon commented on her love for the role, “I love my job at Belmont. The management are always very supportive, my colleagues are a great team and, like me, want to create an environment where residents really feel like they are our family and their needs are always put first.”

Sharon’s attention to detail is an asset to her team and essential for a position with so many responsibilities including the management of support services and cleanliness and maintenance of the home. She also drives the minibus for day trips and has developed some great relationships with residents over the years.

When asked what ‘Care from The Heart’ means to her, Sharon said it “summarises wonderfully how I have approached my 25 years with the company. It is not something you can write down and do justice; it is a mindset, a mentality, a feeling, something that should be at the core of everything we do every day.”
