A Beechwood Park Care Home in Alloa resident known for her love for country dancing, has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Jeannie was born on 22nd November 1923 in Tillicoultry. To commemorate her special birthday, Jeannie enjoyed a party with her family and friends.
Jeannie was born and raised in Tillicoultry. On leaving school she went to work in Paton’s Mill textile factory and during the war worked as a welder at Kelliebank Boat Yard. She met her husband Jimmy dancing, and they married in 1950 when Jeannie moved to Alva.
Jeannie and Jimmy had a son David and daughter Evelyn followed by three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Jeannie was well known as a shop assistant in the local Co-op until she retired. Jeannie and Jimmy enjoyed 30 years living in Alva before she moved to Beechwood Park in February 2023.
She loves country dancing and danced until she was 92years old.
Jeannie started her day with a visit from the children at Sauchie ELC to help Jeannie open the birthday cards they had made.
In the afternoon, Jeannie had a party which was attended by her friends and family including her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandson.
The Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant also attended and presented Jeannie with a bouquet of flowers from the people of Clackmannanshire and her card from the King and Queen.
There was music from Jimmy Mac, a regular entertainer at Beechwood and a special treat from the dancers from Clarissa Rose Highland Dance.
Even at the end of the party Jeannie still had the energy to play bat the balloon games with her Great, Great Grandson.
Anthony Ryan, home manager at Beechwood Park said, “Although Jeannie only moved into Beechwood 8 months ago, her passion for music has been evident. She enjoys all our music events and sometimes her family and friends visit and they enjoy the music events together.”
