Recently at Abbeycrest Nursing Home in Sonning Common, the residents enjoyed a boat trip along the River Thames.
Organised by the wellbeing team to help the residents connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors, they headed to Henley-on-Thames for a voyage along the River Thames with Rivertime Boat Trust.
Founded in 2006, Rivertime Boat Trust is a charity that provides boat trips for disabled and disadvantaged children and adults. Formed by a group of experienced professionals and trained volunteers, the charity believes that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the freedom of movement provided on the water and experience its therapeutic effect.
Welcomed onto the spacious 42-foot passenger boat by the skipper and crew member, the residents were treated to tea and biscuits and posed for photos whilst wearing the captain’s hat. Throughout their voyage, the residents enjoyed recalling the buildings that line the banks and spotting wildlife along the way.
Activity Coordinator Bina said, “all the residents enjoyed the boat ride, some of them were sharing their memories of Henley-on-Thames.”
