Recently at Abbeycrest Nursing Home in Sonning Common, the residents enjoyed a traditional cream tea with friends and relatives.
Held twice a month, the activities team organise the event to encourage the residents to socialise with their friends, relatives, and the team. The team always tries to make each cream tea afternoon have a different theme depending on the season or the nearest special holiday, on this occasion the theme was ‘end of summer colours’.
An English tradition since the 11th century, the catering team provided all the staples including cream tea, delicious homemade cupcakes, and a Victoria sponge cake.
Resident Richard said, “cream tea afternoons are something that I certainly enjoy, and I am happy to attend every moment it happens.”
Wellbeing Lead Rina commented, “we always try our best to make each cream tea afternoon have different themes depending on the season or the nearest special holiday that each event falls under. It is something that the residents look forward to because of the luxurious feel and experience it brings to them. It will always be a special occasion for us.”
