Treasured memories at Walstead Place

Three elderly resident of Walstead Place Care Home getting ready to dig into the ground in preparation to bury their time capsule

It’s fun to reminisce the past and the residents and team at Walstead Place got the local community involved and took part in the Caring Home Treasured Memories project. It was a chance to preserve their words of wisdom and memories for future generations to find, by putting together a time capsule and placing it in the grounds at the home.

Once everything was in the capsule this was then buried in the gardens of the home for future residents and staff at the home to find. Two of our residents – Kate and Joan – helped to bury the time capsule and plant trees to mark the spot.

Home Manager Jacquie Ferguson said, “This time capsule is a good way to reminisce about the past and all the good that happened. Our residents enjoy the close relationship they have with the local community and had a lot of fun getting involved in the project and the planting of the trees to mark the spot.”
