Stowford House Residents and Staff Visit Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary

A Heartwarming Visit to Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary

Last week, residents and team members from Stowford House Care Home enjoyed a truly special outing to the Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary, nestled in the tranquil countryside near Wallingford. Surrounded by rolling green fields and the gentle sound of nature, the sanctuary provides a safe and loving home for rescued donkeys—many of whom have experienced difficult pasts.

The visit offered the residents a wonderful opportunity to connect with the animals and each other in a peaceful and nurturing environment. There was a real sense of joy and calm as everyone strolled through the sanctuary, watching the donkeys roam freely in their natural surroundings. Several residents took great delight in gently stroking and feeding the donkeys, sharing stories and laughter throughout the day.

Beryl, one of the residents, described the experience as “one of the best places I’ve ever visited.” Her words were echoed by many, reflecting the genuine warmth and happiness the day brought to all involved.

At Aria Care, meaningful experiences like this are at the heart of what we do. We believe in nurturing the mind, body, and spirit through enriching activities that spark joy and connection. The visit to the Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary was a perfect example of this ethos in action.

It was a memorable day for all, and plans are already underway for a return visit.
