Care Home Open Week: The Power of Music Brings Joy to Southborough

Celebrating Care Home Open Week at Southborough Nursing Home – The Power of Music

Southborough Nursing Home was delighted to take part in this year’s Care Home Open Week, embracing the uplifting theme ‘The Power of Music’ — and what a powerful week it was.

Residents and guests were treated to a series of wonderful live performances, beginning with the melodic tones of accordionist Tony Boyle. Midweek brought the charm of pianist and singer Alastair Collingwood, followed by a spirited session with David McEwan, whose energy filled the room with smiles and song.

The week concluded with a joyful garden party on Friday — a vibrant celebration filled with music, laughter, and togetherness, capturing the true essence of community.

Southborough extended a warm welcome to all who visited, with heartfelt thanks going to a particularly special young guest and her mum, whose presence brought immeasurable joy to residents.

Special appreciation also goes to Zoe from Debutots Kingston for sharing the magic of intergenerational connection, and to Lou, Elaine, Ann, and Jenny for their dancing, kindness, and the precious memories made.

Care Home Open Week offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with the wider community and celebrate the lives, stories, and creativity of those who live and work in care. The team at Southborough is proud to be part of this nationwide initiative.

Grateful thanks to Championing Social Care for making it all possible.
