Scoonie House celebrate Professional Care Workers’ Week

Scoonie House PCWW

Scoonie House Care Home in Leven, recently celebrated Professional Care Workers’ Week with a ‘snack ’n’ chat’ party to thank their team for the tremendous work they do.

Professional Care Workers’ Week is an annual celebration of care workers, raising awareness about the essential roles they play. It’s also a great opportunity for managers to show their appreciation to their team and give something back. The team got together for a feast of everyone’s favourite snacks and drinks, and home manager, Melanie, praised each team member on their impact at Scoonie House.

SMO, John, has been with us for a whopping 16 years and is always on hand in and out of work to support the wellbeing of the Scoonie House team and residents – his ability to maintain a safe environment is an asset to everyone.

Roddy, Scoonie’s talented head chef, has been spoiling the residents with his delicious cuisine for 11 years and made everyone at the home so proud when he won ‘Aria Chef of the Year 2023.’ He’s also representing Scoonie House in the NACC 2024 finals.

The activities team, Leeann and Sheryl, are committed to creating meaningful experiences for their residents. Leeann has served Scoonie House for 7 years, organising engaging activities for residents and supporting them to maintain contact with loved ones, and for Sheryl, it’s the ‘wee things’ that matter when arranging social events and get-togethers.

Care assistants, Kimberley, Laura and Natalie support residents in their daily lives, ensuring that all their care needs are met. Their compassion, attention to detail and commitment to their roles ensure that residents are happy in their home at Scoonie House.

Of course, they couldn’t leave out the youngest and cutest member of our team, the adorable Taffy! Melanie’s puppy has been a part of Scoonie House since March and has become their registered therapy dog. She loves having a cuddle and going for walks in the garden with residents, who absolutely adore her.

Melanie finished off a lovely day of snacking and chatting with the team by saying, “thank you to every team member at Scoonie House. Without each other, we could not do the fantastic job we do – you are amazing!”

Our resident Brian also commented, “it is good to see such a dedicated team being appreciated by management. They all work so hard to take care of us all! Thanks to all of you.”
