Mill House goes biscuits for dog visitors!

We’re always thrilled to welcome family and friends – especially the furry kind – into our homes and National Dog Biscuit Day certainly gave Mill House Care Home paws for thought…

Throughout the day on 23rd February, a total of 35 dogs visited Mill House care home to spend time with colleagues, residents and family members.

Residents cooked up home-made dog treats for the hungry guests, while those who were a little unwell and remained in their rooms had individual dog visitors, for complete inclusivity.

The event was organised and hosted by Mill House’s head chef, Luke Webb.

Luke said: “While most people would expect a head chef to be taking care of nutrition for the residents and ensuring we offer delicious meals, I also feel a huge part of my role is engaging with the residents. I aim to visit every resident every day and being involved in today’s activity demonstrated how everyone at Mill House works as a team.

“Dogs bring so much pleasure and therapy to our residents that this was a way to give back to them and show our appreciation!”

The day was such a success that several of Mill House’s residents have requested this as a regular event. It will now take place monthly.

Mill House provides residential, nursing and dementia care on a permanent and short stay basis. If you are looking for a care home and want to find out more about the home, call 0808 223 5524.
