The team at Mill House Care Home in Chipping Campden are celebrating after receiving a double award win at the Great British Care awards for the South West region.
Dianna Daclan-Webb won the Social Care Nurse award, which recognises the important role that specialist nurses working in the care sector have in promoting the emotional, physical, psychological, and social health of the people who they support.
Dianne leads by example by having a hands-on approach; she ensures kindness, empathy and has the respect of her team and a wonderful relationship with residents and their families.
Dianne said, “I’m happy and blessed to have just been nominated so winning was the icing on the cake. I’m so grateful for all the support from the whole Mill house team and my husband Luke who continues to motivate and inspire me to become the best version of myself. It is a huge pleasure to be part of our residents’ lives, to support them and their families, so to win an award for a job I love was a real honour.”
Hospitality Manager Paul Dixon won the Care Innovator award, given to the person who has shown exceptional entrepreneurial skills in identifying, developing, implementing, and establishing a new service demonstrating benefits for staff, the business and users of the service.
The community engagement and innovative approach by Paul and the team was highlighted by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), including their free day care campaign. Their latest project will be offering a programme to schools to educate students with an understanding of dementia.
On winning his award, Paul said, “five years ago I was given my first ever role in care. They have supported me at every step. I have won nine awards during my time here and I have my amazing team and manager Gary to thank for all their help and encouragement over the years.”
Dianne and Paul will now go through to the UK finals which are being held in early 2023 in Birmingham.
