Mill House Care Home have been hosting a range of festive activities for their residents and children from the local community.

The Chipping Campden Brownies joined the team and residents on Tuesday 29th November, and pupils from St Catharine’s Catholic Primary School on Friday 2nd December, to help decorate the Christmas trees at Mill House.

On both occasions, the children treated the residents by singing a range of Christmas carols. Before joining them for a meal afterwards provided by the home’s chef.

Two of the children from the Brownie group were also announced as winners of Mill House’s Christmas card competition. The winners were Charlotte and Isabel, both aged nine.

Deputy Manager Lorraine Averre presented both the girls with prizes and commented, “every Mill House resident was involved in the judging process. We were only meant to pick one winner but there were so many wonderful and creative designs we simply could not decide so we opted for two.”

Their designs have been made into this year’s Mill House Christmas card for residents to send to their loved ones.

The team at Mill House understand the importance of regular community engagement and supporting residents to maintain links with their local communities. They hold several events throughout the year, and work closely with groups, schools and charities to ensure residents continue to enjoy a rewarding social life, and the chance to make new friends and try new things.

Home Manager Gary Kent commented, “It is important that care homes are seen as part of the local community, and they are actively involved within the community. The interaction by the generations brings people together and share their experience and allows them to connect. This is in my view an important aspect for the residents and the young people as it brings joy into their lives and prevents barriers being formed.”
