Heffle Court was pleased to welcome Councillor Anne Cross, Councillor for Heathfield and Mayfield, to the home last week to meet residents and team members, and learn more about our home. Anne also spoke to Home Manager, Vlad Vieru, about the impact of changes to local bus provision and the impact that has on the community.

During her visit, Councillor Cross discussed opportunities to promote Heffle Court’s services and events within the local community, as well as ways to encourage greater involvement through initiatives such as the dementia garden and the home’s coffee club. She praised the dedication, compassion and professionalism of the staff team and commended Home Manager Vlad and the wider team for the high standard of care provided.
The visit also included discussions around recent changes to local bus services, which have had a significant impact on travel times for the team. Councillor Cross shared her support for the team and their commitment to residents despite these challenges.

Looking ahead, Councillor Cross has offered to help strengthen connections with local groups and parish networks, explore becoming a Dementia Friend, and continue visiting Heffle Court throughout the year to support dementia awareness and community engagement.
