Frethey House resident Phyllis’ 100th birthday celebrated by Taunton Fire Station

The month of May was quite special for Frethey House as they celebrated resident Phyllis 100th birthday with a visit from the crews at Taunton Fire Station.

Prior to her birthday, staff would ask Phyllis what was it that she wanted for her birthday, and she would always reply: “A fire engine”. On May 26th, the crews from Taunton Fire Station were kind enough to oblige and attend Frethey House in the morning. They came in with their fire engine and stayed for photos, sang happy birthday, and ensured Phyllis had a wonderful day.

Family and friends visited as well and celebrated this special milestone. Phyllis had a delicious birthday cake which she shared with residents, staff, friends, and family. In addition to the cake, Phyllis also received a telegram form The Queen; as per tradition where all centenarians receive a telegram that is arranged and carried out by the Anniversaries office, which is part of the Queen’s private staff.

Frethey House residents and staff were thrilled to celebrate such an impressive milestone occasion with such a wonderful lady.
