The residents and colleagues at Coppice Lea Care Home in Merstham were joined by Rachel Gori from Marie Curie as they came together to spruce up the gardens as part of our nationwide campaign Aria in Bloom.
After the success of Aria in Bloom last year when it was launched, we wanted to get involved to make this year’s competition even better and make our gardens beautiful for the people living in our community.
Rachel’s visit was marked with a beautiful gift of a yellow rose, which celebrates our new initiative to enhance care and companionship for our residents with the support of Marie Curie’s trained volunteers. Other members of our team and residents got into the gardening spirit as well as we potted various flowers.
The sun was shining adding to the success of the day and the results were truly impressive. As part of RHS National Gardening Week taking place in May, it was a great opportunity for us to get involved in the Big Seed Sow initiative, a community-growing campaign designed to get communities, groups and individuals sowing and sharing seeds. This year we planted Californian Poppy and Love-Lies-Bleeding seeds.
Home Manager Ieva Redere commented on the success of Aria in Bloom, “Thank you to everyone who joined us and to Rachel from Marie Curie for her donation and support. It’s wonderful to see how Aria in Bloom has brought everyone together to make such a beautiful change in our community and enhancing our outdoor spaces.”
The winning home and runners up will be chosen in the next few weeks when the plants and flowers have bloomed and the results can be seen in full effect.
