Resident at Beechwood Park turns 100 years old

Margaret, a resident at Beechwood Park Care Home celebrated her milestone birthday on 31st January 2023 surrounded by loved-ones and other well-wishers. This “cheerful” and “joyful” lady received a royal greeting from King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort.

She was presented with the royal greeting by Provost Donald Balsillie and Deputy Lieutenant John MacPhearson in front of her family, friends, children from the local nursery and our own team.

Margaret received more than 200 birthday cards from the local community and people around the world wishing her a happy birthday. Margaret’s 100th birthday celebration was one to remember with a brass band, cake, a buffet served by the home’s chefs and a game of one of her favourite hobbies, bingo.

Home Manager at Beechwood Park, Regina Mparutsa, was elated at the love and support shown by the community. She said: “Thanks is such a little word. It does not seem to be anywhere near big enough, for all the lovely cards and messages.

When asked for the secret to a long life, she said: “Go to bed early, have a vodka a day and stay away from men. Use Palmolive soap only on your skin.”
