VIVALDI Social Care Project

Aria Care is proud to announce its participation in the innovative VIVALDI Social Care Project, a vital initiative aimed at improving infection control and prevention in care homes. This project addresses the critical need for better protection against infections such as flu, urinary infections, diarrhoea, and vomiting, which frequently cause severe illness in older adults and often require hospital treatment.

The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the urgency of developing robust evidence and new methodologies to safeguard residents and staff in care homes. The VIVALDI study is designed to alleviate the impact of infections and outbreaks by accurately measuring infection rates and consequences to residents and conducting research to discover more effective preventive measures.

Shelly Hickey, Head of Quality & Governance at Aria Care, highlighted the significance of this initiative: “The project will help to reduce the number of infections and severe infections (that require hospital admission) in residents. We also anticipate that this project will reduce how often and how severe outbreaks are, therefore reducing how often care homes are closed to new admissions and the impact of home closures due to an outbreak.”

The VIVALDI Social Care Project will be implemented across all Aria Care homes, with a comprehensive training session scheduled for September. This training will equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively participate in the study and apply the latest infection prevention techniques.

Aria Care is committed to delivering exceptional care and ensuring the safety of its residents. By participating in the VIVALDI Social Care Project, Aria Care reaffirms its dedication to advancing healthcare standards and ensuring a healthier, safer environment for everyone.
