Creative schoolgirl helps Abbeycrest bag second place in annual Christmas card competition

Abbeycrest Christmas Card Competition

Abbeycrest Nursing Home in Sonning Common has been awarded second place in Aria Care’s inaugural Christmas card competition thanks to the fantastic artwork of a local schoolgirl.

Abbeycrest bagged the number two spot thanks to a design by Thea Stadling (design below), a year 5 pupil from Kidmore End Junior School.

Thea’s design was one of 44 entries submitted by Aria care homes across the country as part of its first annual Christmas card competition.

Sonia Da Silva, home manager at Abbeycrest, said: “We are so proud of Thea and her design for coming second in the competition – her design was incredibly festive and made us all smile.”

The team at Abbeycrest hosted their own Christmas card competition this year, receiving 150 entries from eight local primary schools and nurseries.

Sonia, who had the unenviable task of choosing the local winner and submitting it into the overall group competition, said: “The number of entries we received from the local community was overwhelming and we are so grateful for every school and nursery that took part – the children all did a wonderful job.”

Each of Aria’s care homes will now receive an enlarged copy of its design to display within the home.
