A valued and dedicated team member at Abbeycrest Nursing Home in Sonning Common is celebrating her 15th anniversary with the company.
Sarah Barrington has devoted over a decade of her professional life to Abbeycrest. With a wealth of experience and a passion for making a difference in the lives of residents, Sarah’s journey exemplifies dedication, skill, and a heartwarming commitment to care.
Sarah joined Abbeycrest in September 2013, bringing with her four years of prior experience as the administrator at Hulcott Nursing Home in Aylesbury.
“The manager at Hulcott moved to Abbeycrest and urged me to join”, Sarah explained, “we both occasionally helped in the kitchen, which fascinated me while studying for my NVQ in cookery. Later, I took a bakery course, envisioning residents at Abbeycrest enjoying French patisserie and cakes I made for them.”
Sarah’s previous experience in hospitality has been instrumental in creating memorable experiences for residents, reminiscing about the successful garden parties, including a particularly memorable year with an Olympic Torch Bearer as the guest of honor, bringing joy to residents and guests alike.
Sarah expressed her aspirations for the future, hoping to keep up with the pace of change in introducing new systems and methods, especially in developing housekeeping systems to achieve high and efficient standards.
When asked what ‘care from the heart’ means to Sarah, she said, “it’s about really loving what you are doing and being confident that you have the skills and knowledge to make a difference to the people you care for.”
Jerry Abeya, home manager at Abbeycrest, expressed his admiration for Sarah, describing her as an indispensable asset to the team. He emphasised, “Sarah is an amazing admin, and I consider myself very fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside her.”
