The residents and team at Abbeycrest Nursing Home in Sonning Common came together last week to celebrate a very special birthday for a very special lady.
Ethel a resident at our home marked her 102nd birthday and everyone wanted to make the day special for her. Our head chef Stephane made a delicious cake for her to enjoy and the team gathered around to sing Happy Birthday to her as she received cards and gifts.
Her birthday also marked Aria in Bloom day at the home, our annual gardening day and competition across Aria Care. Ethel enjoyed watching everyone working hard and tending to the gardens to make them bloom.
The sun was shining adding to the success of the day and the results were truly impressive. As part of RHS National Gardening Week taking place in May, it was a great opportunity for us to get involved in the Big Seed Sow initiative, a community-growing campaign designed to get communities, groups and individuals sowing and sharing seeds. This year we planted Californian Poppy and Love-Lies-Bleeding seeds.
