A Six-Week Journey to the Stage: The Priory Court Choir

There is a particular kind of energy that takes over a home when a performance is in the works. For the past two months, Priory Court has been buzzing with exactly that, as a group of twelve residents and our lifestyle team prepared for a special showcase in partnership with Mack Entertainment.

The project was made possible by the National Lottery Community Fund, which provided a grant to help bring a professional musical experience directly into our community.

The Rehearsal Process

This wasn’t just a one-off singalong. Over the course of six weeks, the group worked closely with Malindi from Mack Entertainment to build a repertoire from scratch. Rehearsals involved:

  • Learning new arrangements: Moving beyond the familiar to tackle fresh songs.
  • Coordinating movement: Adding actions to the music to keep the performances engaging.
  • Building a team: Seeing residents and staff work side-by-side to master the material.

The Big Reveal

The culmination of all that practice arrived on a recent afternoon when the choir finally performed for an audience of fellow residents and visiting families. The atmosphere was one of quiet pride and genuine connection.

Adding to the excitement, the performance was filmed by the National Lottery Community Fund to highlight how their grants support local engagement. While the cameras were a novelty, the real highlight was the sense of achievement felt by the singers as they shared the results of their hard work with their loved ones.

Why It Matters

At Aria Care, we talk a lot about “hospitality from the heart,” and projects like this are the lived reality of that value. It isn’t just about the entertainment on the day; it’s about the weeks of dedication, the social bonds formed during rehearsals, and the simple dignity of working toward a goal.

We’d like to thank Malindi and the team at Mack Entertainment for their patience and expertise. It was a brilliant afternoon that reminded us all of the power of a good song and even better company.
