Scones, Songs and Smiles at Stowford House

Valentine’s Day Brings Residents and Families Together

With the arrival of Valentine’s Day at Stowford House Nursing Home, residents and their families joined together to enjoy a delightful day of music, tasty treats and romantic reflection.

In anticipation of the valentine themed event that was due to occur, the Stowford House team fittingly decorated the home in subtle touches of red and pink. Families arrived throughout the day, greeted with warm welcomes, prior to time spent time catching up with their loved ones. The conversation flowed unabated, with stories shared of touching memories of past valentine days, with the occasional fond and knowing glances exchanged between friends.

In the afternoon, everyone gathered to enjoy a live performance from Kitty, who treated residents and their relatives to a fantastic selection of well-known love songs. It took little time for the attendees to engage with the performance, with some singing along, whilst others simply tapped their feet and, in some cases, the most energised enjoyed a gentle dance. The music sparked memories and smiles in equal measure – a reminder of how powerful familiar songs can be.

The celebrations continued with a traditional afternoon tea. Scones with jam and cream were served with pots of tea, giving everyone the chance to sit down together and savour the moment. It was simple, thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyed.

At Aria Care, occasions like Valentine’s Day are about more than decoration or tradition. They are about creating space for connection, supporting relationships and making sure every resident feels part of a caring community. At Stowford House, it was a day that captured precisely that.
