Southborough Residents Create Art with Interactive Sensory Table

A Touch of Magic at Southborough: Filming Day with OMi and the Mobii Table
At Southborough Nursing Home, every day is an opportunity to create moments of joy, connection and discovery for our residents. Recently, those moments came to life in a very special way during a wonderful filming day with the brilliant team at OMi (OmInteractive) — the creators of the much-loved Mobii Table, a sensory, interactive experience that has become a integral part of life at Southborough.

The Mobii Table is more than just a piece of technology — it is a gateway to memory, engagement and emotion. Designed specifically to support people living with dementia and other cognitive needs, the table offers a wide variety of sensory games, nostalgic content and personalised activities. But what made this particular day truly extraordinary was the inclusion of our residents’ own personal photographs — a thoughtful touch that brought deep emotion and beautiful memories to the surface.

There were many heartwarming moments throughout the day. Lily recognised a photograph of her sister Dorothy after many years, sparking a  moment of recognition and reflection. Barbara was visibly delighted when an image of her smiling great-grandchild appeared on the table — with laughter in her voice, she exclaimed, “It IS magic!” Meanwhile, Lesley and her family uncovered treasured photos from her wedding day during one of the sensory activities, rekindling joyful memories and meaningful conversation. Ruth was especially thrilled to see familiar faces of her family — particularly her granddaughter, whom she fondly says is “just like her.”

Seeing residents so engaged, animated and emotionally connected was a truly affirming experience for everyone involved. These moments of personal recognition and shared storytelling are exactly what meaningful care is about — nurturing the person within, celebrating their life story, and helping them feel seen and valued.

We are incredibly grateful to the team at OmInteractive for not only capturing this beautiful day on film, but for continuing to help us bring light, laughter and stimulation into the lives of our residents. The Mobii Table will continue to play an important role in our daily activities, offering sensory exploration, comfort, and connection for those we care for.

Thank you, OMi, for helping us bring a little more magic to Southborough.
