Chestnut View Residents Enjoy a Refreshing Trip to Hayling Island

Seaside Memories and Meaningful Moments: A Day Trip to Hayling Island with Chestnut View

Residents from Chestnut View recently spent a day at Hayling Island, enjoying some fresh sea air, good conversation, and a change of scenery.

Although it was a little windy on arrival, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. In fact, the breeze and coastal views seemed to lift everyone’s energy. Wrapped up against the chill, residents took a relaxing stroll along the boardwalk, taking in the surroundings at their own pace. A few began collecting pebbles, sparking memories of childhood holidays and family days out by the sea.

These moments led to some great conversations—residents shared stories of seaside trips from years gone by, often returning to Hayling Island over different stages of their lives. It was a chance to reflect and reconnect over shared experiences.

After the walk, everyone enjoyed a well-earned pub lunch, where the food was matched by the easy, friendly atmosphere. A surprise highlight came when a few old planes flew overhead—two of the residents who had served in the RAF recognised them instantly and spoke about their time serving the nation, adding something unexpectedly special to the day.

All in all, it was a simple, enjoyable outing—one that offered a welcome change of scene and a chance to share stories, memories and time together.
