The Chestnut View Poetry Club Crafts its First Poem

Memories of Childhood

The enthusiastic residents and wellbeing team at Chestnut Court have decided to launch their very own poetry club. The inaugural meeting occurred on Wednesday the 28th of April, with plans to convene on the last Wednesday of every month.

The meeting of the Chestnut Court Poetry club is an opportunity for residents to reflect on the many goings on within their home and their lives over the previous month. Whether the focus is on an engaging activity, an excursion away from their home, or an amusing happening within the home, it is an opportunity to exercise their creative endeavours by crafting a poem.

The most recent meeting of the Poetry Club was an opportunity for residents to reflect on memories of childhood. As a group they shared their memories and crafted their thoughts into the poem you can read below:

Memories at Chestnut View:

Blowing Bubbles,
Getting into trouble,
Chestnuts in the fire,
Playing in the rubble.

Conkers in the Playground,
Running in the sand,
Making lots of Noise,
Having Grandparents around.

Oh, my sweet childhood!
The memories Kept inside,
I thought of you today,
And with the smile on my face,
I cried.
