Glorious Week in the Garden at Stowford House

Stowford House Aria in Bloom

The residents and team at Stowford House Care Home in Abingdon were joined last week by loved ones and volunteers for a real community effort as they made the most of the weather donned their gardening gloves and took part in Aria in Bloom. Throughout the week they spent time getting their outdoor spaces spruced up and ready for the summer months with bursts of colour and blossoming flowers that the residents can enjoy as they spend time outdoors as the weather improves.

It was wonderful to see so many people getting involved especially as it was RHS National Gardening Week from 28th  April – 4th May which highlights the positive impact gardens and gardening can have on the lives of people living in our communities and across the UK, which was clear to see.

The weather was perfect and the residents truly loved being surrounded by the fresh air and beautiful nature. As everyone worked together they painted benches, planted vibrant flowers and plants, trimmed the mint which the chef is looking forward to using in meals, watered the grass and most importantly basked in the glorious British sunshine.

A special highlight from the week was when one of the resident’s daughters generously donated three beautiful plants. Her father John, then had the honour of planting them in the garden himself which was a truly touching moment and added even more heart to the shared space.

Everyone at the home wanted to say a big thank you to all that got involved in their Aria in Bloom project, making the week so special and helping to transform the gardens and look forward to making many memories over the summer months with the residents and their loved ones in the new spaces that have been created.
