As we celebrate National Mentoring Month, it’s the perfect time to recognise the impact of mentorship in shaping the future of healthcare. At Aria Care, mentoring plays a pivotal role in supporting colleagues to enable growth, learning, and teamwork.
Jackie Wicks, Clinical Training Lead, shared insights into Aria’s mentoring programme, which has been a cornerstone of our colleague development since it launched.
With over 150 mentors across the organisation, Aria Care is committed to providing ongoing support, coaching, and training to all new nurses, ensuring they feel confident, and well-prepared to shine in their roles.
The programme pairs mentors with mentees based on a variety of factors, including culture, background, skills, and knowledge. This careful pairing ensures that the relationship is not only supportive but also beneficial for both parties. By matching mentors and mentees thoughtfully, Aria Care aims to create a foundation of trust, open communication, and shared learning and to come together as one team.
Aria Care’s dedication to mentorship extends beyond just nurses. Carers also receive personalised mentoring, ensuring they have the guidance and support necessary to thrive in their roles. In addition, new employees in support roles are given “buddies” during their induction period.
As we honour National Mentoring Month, it is the ideal time to showcase how we are creating nurturing and supportive environments for our colleagues. The positive impact of mentoring extends far beyond the workplace, enabling both professional growth and personal fulfilment.
